THE MAKING OF A LOVELY CARDIGAN IN TUNISIAN CROCHET In the last little while, as you may have noticed, I have been working on an ambitious project: the creation of a Tunisian crochet garment, using a leaf motif (or "spades", as I preferred to call it) already seen in some wonderful knitting projects. First, I thought about replicating the spade pattern in Tunisian crochet, which was not difficult, as I have created similar patterns before - you can find them, for example, in these projects of mine: Leaf it On Shawl , Leaf it On Scarf , Leaf it On Cowl .  Leaf it On Scarf Next, I thought it best to make a garment that had a simple workmanship, i.e. worked flat, and not in the round, to avoid, at least initially, over-complicating the design. With this checked pillow cover you’ll have fun playing with colours while creating a delightfully decorative item.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE PATTERN


·         MATERIALS
About 14 oz (400 g) of Light DK yarn in 4 different colours. COLOUR A = fuchsia (about 0.3 oz – 8 g); COLOUR B = white (about 5 oz – 150 g); COLOUR C = black (about 7 oz - 200 g); COLOUR D = yellow (about 2.8 oz – 80 g)
Straight Tunisian hook or regular crochet hook: H8 (5 mm)
Filling material OR pillow of adequate size

·         STITCHES USED
Tunisian SimpleStitch (see previous blog posts), regular crochet basics

·         GAUGE
2.6” x 2.6” = 10 sts x 8 rows (1 square)

·         DIMENSIONS
20” x 20”, about 3.9” thick (51 x 51 cm, 10 cm thick)
