"Queen of spades" cropped cardigan in Tunisian Crochet

THE MAKING OF A LOVELY CARDIGAN IN TUNISIAN CROCHET In the last little while, as you may have noticed, I have been working on an ambitious project: the creation of a Tunisian crochet garment, using a leaf motif (or "spades", as I preferred to call it) already seen in some wonderful knitting projects. First, I thought about replicating the spade pattern in Tunisian crochet, which was not difficult, as I have created similar patterns before - you can find them, for example, in these projects of mine: Leaf it On Shawl , Leaf it On Scarf , Leaf it On Cowl .  Leaf it On Scarf Next, I thought it best to make a garment that had a simple workmanship, i.e. worked flat, and not in the round, to avoid, at least initially, over-complicating the design. A cardigan, therefore, was the best choice. Next, I chose a yarn that I liked and opted for a fine multicoloured yarn. This was the result: "QUEEN OF SPADES" - THE CAL! A CROCHETING MOTHER


Me being a crocheting mother, I can put all my efforts and creativity into creating beautiful and colourful items for my daughter to wear. And I do! The result is my daughter has a vast choice of hats, scarves, cowls, etc. to choose from every day. She actually has the "dream wardrobe" any girl her age wishes! The fact that she still doesn't care about fashion or trends is irrilevant, because she is still at an age in which she just loves to wear cute things for the fun of it. Every day she can play pretend to be a different character: one day she is a dragon, the next she impersonates a rabbit, and if she doesn't want to be an animal she can only just wear colourful hats and scarves. My personal luck, on the other hand, is that I can test new items on her. If I want to make a crochet sweater in a specific stitch I first make a small size for her and then proceed making a bigger one for myself, if I really like it. I wonder how many other crocheting mothers do the same, I bet all of them!

A SIMPLE BUT CUTE CROCHET BEANIE WITH EARS


The beanie you see pictured here is an example of what I mean. I wanted to crochet a new hat for my daughter, but I wanted to make it quickly, because it was meant for mid-seasons (and mid-seasons don't last long, as we all know). So I used cotton to make it light and crisp, starting from the top with blue shades, turning to azure and lilac, finally pink. I added rounded ears to make it funny, and there you go: my daughter loved it!
